Marine drive is a public walkway located in the heart of the city of Cochin, Kerala. What to Know Before You Go
The people, especially natives used to visit the walkway in the evening as a getaway from the busiest city life. If you search for a place to spend alone also, this is the better choice. This place is perfect for a morning walk. It used to be a little crowdy on a holiday evening, unlike other days.
The black-dotted red tiles on the surface give an extra charm to the walkway. There arranged wooden benches and cast ironed seatings to provide the visitors with the greatest refreshment of mind. It is a well-maintained tourist place.
During night marine drive looks so fascinating because of the vibrant lights all over. The lights actually come from the ships anchored at the harbour, boats, bridges especially the rainbow bridge, and the buildings around.
As Cochin is the commercial capital of Kerala, the marine drive is an important trade centre inside the city. There are a number of shopping malls and restaurants located along the walkway. The GCDA shopping complex and is one of the prominent shopping centres in Kerala. The main fast food restaurants are Bimbi’s Fast Food, Marybrown Express, Sundaram Fast Food among numerous restaurants.
There is a public ground along the walkway which used to be the venue for many major exhibitions, political meetings and other public events. Many boat jetties are there in between and the international Boat Jetty Complex is situated here. The marine drive walkway is situated behind the Indira Priyadarshini Children’s park which would be delightful for your little ones.
This 140-metre walkway is between the backwaters and the Shanmugham road and it has three bridges namely, the Rainbow bridge, the Chinese fishing net bridge, and the houseboat bridge. The great rainbow bridge is so special among the three. It can be because of its arch shape and the illumination of the rainbow-coloured lights on it. It gives the passengers a magnificent visual at night.
Boating is an interesting thing to do here. The boating starts from the Vembanad lake and it goes to the outer sea. It would be an unforgettable experience for the visitors to enjoy the beautiful sceneries of the Vembanad lake and to explore the surroundings.

The marine drive walkway starts from the Jankar Jetty in the north to the Ernakulam Boat Jetty in the South.
