Chembra Peak is one of the famous and largest and the highest peak in India which is located in Wayanad district. It is 6890 feet above sea level. It is situated nearby the town of Meppadi which is about 8 km from the south of Kalpetta. Chembra Peak is a division of the Wayanad hill range in the Western Ghats which is adjacent to the Nilgiri Hills and Vellarimala in Kozhikode district. The Chembra peak is under the control of South Wayanad forest development agency.
It is an ideal picnic spot for nature lovers as well as also for trekking. The most attraction of this place is there is a heart-shaped lake at the top of the hill it is really breath-taking view. The heart-shaped lake is also known as “Hridhayathadakam”. Moreover, the place offers an excellent and spectacular view of the valley and the surrounding mountain range. It also offers a mind-blowing view of rare flora and fauna.
The forest department will provide guides for trekking. Important points to consider before going for the trekking are you should reach the ticket counter before 7 AM because they only admit 200 people per day. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Don’t forget to carry water with you.
The best time to visit the Chembra Peak is from August to May. Visiting this place would be worthwhile and it is a must-visit place in Wayanad.
